Paperback edition of Facing the Lion released in United Kingdom

January 27, 2003 – The paperback edition of Facing the Lion was released Monday, Holocaust Memorial Day, at a special event hosted by Staffordshire University.

The paperback edition, which is currently available only in the United Kingdom, can be ordered through Golden Age Books (Orders@GoldenAge Books.co.uk).

Event speakers included Professor Christine E. King, president of Staffordshire University, and Professor Eileen Barker, London School of Economics.

More than 220 attended the event held at the Stoke-on-Trent campus of Staffordshire University. The program included a reading of Facing the Lion and an interview with the author, Simone Liebster.

The event also included the release of the autobiography of Max Liebster, Simone’s husband.

Crucible of Terror – A Story of Survival Through the Nazi Storm recounts Max’s harrowing experiences of surviving five concentration camps as a German Jew and his contact with a unique group of camp prisoners, who wore the purple triangle. For ordering information visit crucibleofterror.com.

This year’s theme for Holocaust Memorial Day is Children of the Holocaust. Facing the Lion recounts Simone’s childhood experience in a Nazi reform school, where she was imprisoned for practicing her religious faith.

German edition


Facing the Lion released in Danish, German and Korean

December 5, 2002 - Simone Liebster’s moving autobiography of her childhood experiences in a Nazi reform school is now available in Danish, German and Korean with more translations soon to be released.

The Korean edition of Facing the Lion, published by Miseghy, is available in hardcover and paperback with an initial printing of 8,000 copies. The Danish edition, published by Forlaget Gramma, is available in hardback only with an initial printing of 1,800. The German edition, available in hardback only, is published by Schortgen Editions, Luxembourg, with an initial printing of 5,000.

The English edition has sold nearly 20,000 copies, while the Korean edition has already sold nearly 6,000 copies since May 2002.
